Thanks for sharing this! Raising a kid with special needs, I now have a heightened awareness of other families who have loved ones deemed "special" for whatever reason. I think so much more can be done to encourage all of us to be more sensitive about others. And it's amazing how these kids can touch your life, if you let them.
One of our friends has a son with Down's Syndrome. When he was born, the parents told their other children that God had given them someone in their life who would only know and understand love. And what a gift it is for the family to see life through those eyes.
This started out as a place to document the craziness that was my job as a Chicago Public School teacher. However, over the past 5 or so years, it's become more about the craziness that is my life.
