Happy Good Friday!

It is tradition in our family to color Easter eggs on Good Friday. Usually, my nieces join us, as they did today. It worked out well this year, since my sister had to work, and needed someone to watch the girls.

It was very strange to watch a snow storm happening outside my window while preparing for Easter. They've been warning us for two days about this storm. The northern suburbs are expected to get up to 8 inches. So far, we have about 2 inches. I don't think we're going to get much more. I took a little video to share, but when I watched it just now, I was amused/embarrassed to hear The People's Court as the (loud!) soundtrack. Enjoy!

While the kids were decorating their eggs (a dozen each!) I whipped up 3 cakes for Easter. I sent one to my awesome neighbors, John & Jean. Another is for my mother-in-law, and the third is for our Easter dinner. They're not fancy, but I think they look cute, nonetheless. I found this edible Easter grass at Sam's Club a couple of weeks ago, and instantly thought of this cake. I had intented to also add jelly beans and/or chocolate eggs, but I didn't remember to buy them. If I get some before Sunday, I'll add them to the cake later. (Especially since I'd like to cover up the white sides of the Peeps!) But, in the meantime, the Peeps will have to do. The cake I created in my head at Sam's Club was way cuter than this, I swear!

The kids spent hours decorating their eggs. I actually took pictures this year for the first time of each egg. The little one wasn't ready to present hers, but here are my older niece and son's favorites:

My son made the scary face, my niece made the bunny. (I wish the picture hadn't turned out so blurry.) I won't bore you by posting all 24 of their eggs! But, they are really cute.
