More random internet crap...

This was taken somewhere here in Chicago yesterday. Ok, I kid. But, it could have been!! We've been breaking ALL kinds of records here this week. We hit an all-time high temperature yesterday. If we hit 100+ again today, that'll make 4 days in a row, which will be yet another record. Oh, joy.

That compels me to share one of my favorites for the third July in a row.

Ok, this has nothing to do with the heat, but it was too cute not to share. It immediately brought to mind my FAVORITE picture of Monkey that's ever been taken. She was about 36 hours old here.
It occurred to me this morning, as I was enjoying my coffee and watching the sun rise, that I have absolutely nothing going on this weekend. Nothing. It's glorious, really. With the holiday falling in the middle of the week, it left us with lots of free time this weekend. Last night, CSJ actually came home earlier than usual, and we were able to just sit around and do nothing but relax. Stud, naturally, had plans and wasn't home. We watched a movie, and I actually stayed awake, thanks to my mid-afternoon iced coffee. Then we watched our usual Friday night line-up (Shark Tank, 20/20).

The best part is, we still have two days left this weekend with nothing planned. I almost don't know what to do with myself. Well, clearly, since I already texted two of my oldest and dearest friends at 8am, to see if they are free to meet for dinner tonight. Because, you know, I'm free!! Yeah, CSJ isn't really thrilled with me, but he'll get over it. "Why can't we just not do anything and enjoy it?!" I know he's right, especially since next weekend is going to be chock full of things to do.

Next Friday (Friday the 13th, to be exact!) is Monkey's First Birthday!!! I can't even believe it! I don't know what we'll be doing yet, if anything, but I hope we get to spend the day with her. Originally, the plan was that my brother was going to take her to her first Cubs game. But, with the weather we've been having here recently, I don't know if that's still the plan. It IS supposed to cool way off next week, but we'll see.

Saturday, we have a wedding to go to. Again, CSJ is thrilled. Wait til he finds out it's an outdoor wedding. Um, yeah, I haven't mentioned that part to him yet. Truthfully, I'm afraid to. Eh, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Then, Sunday is Monkey's party. Yay!! So, basically, I'll be spending all of next week preparing. You'd think she was MY baby! But, my brother is such a guy when it comes to this stuff, so I don't really mind. I'm excited to see how she's going to react to everything. Many of the guests (mostly my daddy's side of the family) haven't seen her since her baptism party, so they're in for a surprise when they see how big she is now, and what a personality she is.

Well, I think I'm going to take advantage of the free time I have this morning, and attack that pile of magazines I haven't had time to read. I hope all of you will be having a relaxing weekend, too. But, if not, tell me what you'll be doing. I'm happy to live vicariously through my bloggy buddies. :)

Nothing now. Plans are all cancelled because my sister in law's son threw up and shat all night. Cleaning, again, I guess.

Lucky. I don't want to have anything to do today! The boys left for karate, only to come home minutes later because they are closed for the Fourth - which was days ago. Now they are back and loud and annoying and I was hoping for some reading and EFFING quiet before we have people over to swim, go to Hubby's dad's house, and some other crap tonight. I didn't drink last night, but boy howdy I will be tonight.
