Day Poo. I mean 2....

Seeing as it's already nearly 10:30, and it's WAY past my bedtime, I'll try and make this as short as possible.

The wind was completely let out of my sails today.
  • My room STILL hadn't even been TOUCHED when I walked in this morning. Seriously?!
  • We sat in a meeting until nearly 1:30 again. We talked about inclusion and LRE for HOURS!
  • We received the tentative prep schedule. I WASN'T EVEN ON IT! We are going from 5 preps a week to 4, 2 of which are to be used for collaborative meetings, leaving us 2 freakin' preps a week to get work done! It seemed that every one of the other kdg. preps was at a different time each day, which is really annoying. I'm dreading seeing the same schedule for myself tomorrow.
  • As we were swiping out this afternoon, New Principal called my friend over to tell her that there were going to be changes made in the morning. When they walked away to talk, I asked one of the clerk WTF was going on, and bottom line, she's moving my friend out of kdg. because we don't have enough babies for two classes. Um...hello!! Apparently, New Principal doesn't realize how our parents operate in Englewood. You don't register your child for school in April or May when the board asks you to. You sign them up when you're damn good and ready, which is usually the first week of school. I guarantee that by next Friday, we will have well over 50 kdg. students. (We currently have 29, which I'm sorry, is WAY too many for one class!)
  • As I was walking to the parking lot, past my room, I saw that the janitors were just starting to wash my floor. At 3:30! I asked the janitor if I was going to be able to move my furniture back tomorrow, and he promised I would. That would mean something if I wasn't already promised that my room was going to be finished every day since freakin' Monday!!
  • Oh, did I mention New Principal said that she planned to do a walk-through tomorrow to check every one's rooms? She wants to make sure that they're all set up exactly to her specifications. Are you kidding me?! I've already lost two days of work time in my room. She mentioned both days that the building was going to be open until at least 8pm, if we want to stay and work. HA! Yeah, right! That's EXACTLY what I want to do. Stay in Englewood until 8pm. Is she out of her flippin' mind?!
  • New Principal still plans to go ahead with the planned rally for the neighborhood tomorrow afternoon. I better believe I'm going to ask/beg her to let me stay in the building and work on my room instead of participating in this silly rally. Every time I think about the huge task ahead of me, I truly want to cry.
Ok, I'm going to stop there. There's plenty more I can complain about, but I'm just far too exhausted. Plus, I'm trying to focus on the positive, remember? Let's see, well, she did provide breakfast and lunch again today. Too bad I missed out on the fruit for breakfast (no donuts, trying to be "good!"). Ah, but I did get coffee. I also missed out on lunch, which today was ordered from Popeye's. Thanks to Operation Shrink-My-Ass, there will be NO fried chicken, biscuits, red beans & rice (argh! I LOVE that!) or cole slaw (dressing=sugar!) going into this body. The only thing I was able to grab was a bottle of water. Better than nothing, right? I had planned to bring a salad for lunch, but I woke up late this morning and didn't have time. Hey, how did I get back to the negative again? I guess I'd better just go to bed, before I start complaining again. Night, night!

Sorry, I could see that one coming. Big changes mean big changes, there was no way they were going to be ALL the way you liked.
This is a guy thing, but there is a quote that goes something like this, "Lord, let me change the things I can change and accept the things I can't, and may I have the wisdom to know the difference between the two" Something like that, anyway. Guys tend to not fret the stuff that's out of their control. Women worry about everything. So, kick back and relax, in two weeks, school will be going, all the stuff WILL get done that needs to get done. So prioritize and focus on what you CAN do, and do what is important to you so that you can still function. You get too many kindergarten kids, she'll learn. Because of the economy, and budget cuts, they cut us one kinder teacher, we will start the year with some where between 30 and 40 just don't know how it's going to shake out yet.
Stress kills you know, eat good, get sleep, the rest will take care of itself.

Sounds like New Principal needs to do a little more LISTENING and a lot less bossing around. Some people are too power-hungry.

I'm holding out hope for you. You have so much experience and goodwill. I believe you will make it work.
Thank you for your prayers! XO

I think you won't even miss those extra preps when you start reaping the benefits of having a principal who actually gives an ish. It sounds like she's pretty much doing everything you've been telling the Big Cheese to do since the day you started there. Looks like she's had the balls he was missing this whole time. You know how much happier you'll be in the end.

Oh, and good for your for passing on the Popeye's. I have trouble passing up free food in general. hehe She better not bring in any Los Comales though, or you'll be in trouble!
