This just may have to be a daily feature...

...at least until this one decides to stop kissing up. ;-)

Translation: My teacher loves to teach and she is mad because they are messing her stuff up! But she's really, really, really, really, really nice. But don't distract her.

This was, again, written during centers, and during the rotation before this, the group of babies at the word building station were making a hot mess out of the letter cards, and just weren't doing what they were supposed to at the center. I spent nearly the entire rotation time with this group, trying to get them to follow the routine, and obviously, my frustration was showing. I love that he said, "don't distract her." I'm wondering if he meant 'upset'?

I had him reread what he actually wrote, and he immediately realized that the words are out of order in that first sentence (My love to teacher....) At first, I thought maybe he was writing a poem or something to me. ;-)

Oh, and I asked him how he knew how to spell 'because' and much to my delight, he said, "I looked on the word wall." Woo hoo!! That's EXACTLY what you're supposed to do!! This year I'm using the word wall that was left by the other teacher (because I left mine for the new kdg teacher, who promptly fucking tore it down, and threw it the fuck away!!!! Oops, next time, I'll try not to hold back so much on what I'm thinking...) and I LOVE that the other teacher put magnetic tape on the back of all her words, because the word wall is so interactive now. The babies can walk right up to it, take off the word they want to write, take it to their seat, write it, then put back. So cool!

On that note, I'm off to Office Depot in search of magnetic tape and some other goodies, that only nerdy teachers would be excited about. I plan to do a TON of laminating tonight for a project that I've been furiously working on this week. Maybe I'll share later....

A bulletin board or wall in a classroom that is not interactive really might as well not be there at all...educationally speaking. Aesthetically speaking of course is a different story.

Good. You're starting to let it all out. We are all here to listen and offer sympathy. Think of it as cheaper than therapy.

PS Love that kid. Does your school have any kind of enrichment program? Not talking Gifted and Talented, just cool after school stuff. Not likely, I know, but there is always ho[e.

That little darling is prrrrecious! Sorry the new kdg teacher did that. It would've been polite for her to ask if you wanted it at least. P.S. I love that you are teaching 1st grade because you are so awesome.

jwg - You're too sweet. I seriously think about you every single time I sit down to post. There's a looonngg post pent up in me that I keep thinking about writing, but I don't because I start to think 'No one really wants to listen to me whine.' Then, I think about how your comment over the summer, where you mentioned that I just hadn't been myself lately. That comment literally made me cry. I was so touched that one of my bloggy buddies not only noticed, but took the time to express concern. It really meant a lot to me.

I tried to reply directly to you back then, but since you don't have a blog/profile, I couldn't, and I didn't really want to do it in the comment section (like I'm doing here, I guess! :) ) because I didn't know if you'd come back to see it. Hopefully, you're seeing this. Thanks for your concern. "The Post" is coming soon, I think. Even if I have to wait until our fall break. ;-)

Now you are going to make me cry! While I have your attention...Can we pass a law that if a blogger goes private they have to give some kind of warning so faithful readers can ask in. Three of my favorite blogs have vanished to the world of the priviliged few recently and I am very sad. Promise you won't do that?

I just found your blog- I love the notes, so adorable. I hate DIBELing the kids right at the beginning of the year, it's like "hi i'm your teacher, and BYE"- how long have you guys been in school?
