My face TODAY....

...looks more like this...

or, even this......cuz the weatherman just said it's FIFTY-THREE outside!! Woo-freakin'-hoo!! Now THAT'S what I like! I don't even care that our temperature fluctuated by almost 50 degrees in one day. It's supposed to stay this way for a couple of days. Let's hope it does, for my sanity's sake!

We had a storm from hell this morning. All I could think when the thunder and lightening was literally shaking my house this morning is, "Hmmm...I wonder how many of the babies will stay home today?" It was THAT bad. It was so bad, in fact, that I almost called in sick this morning because there was water pouring into my basement this morning. It looked like a friggin' waterfall under my stairs. And, no, I'm NOT exaggerating. It already had made its way to the kitchen, and there was also a few puddles in the laundry room. I threw down all the towels I had available, and left for work. My driveway was already flooded, as was my street, and most of the streets I had to take to get to the Hell-Hole.

I couldn't call in today because I took yesterday off. It was mostly for fun (aka a mental health day!) but I did take care of a lot of errands that needed to be done. I actually had a really nice day, despite the fact that the heat index was, again, over 100. (That actually had a LOT to do with my decision to take the day off. It was unbearable at school the day before. I knew it legitimately would NOT be good for my health.) I figured it wouldn't be so bad at school today because I knew many of the kids wouldn't come. My partner across the hall only had 8 kids show up. One of the 2nd grade teachers had 4! I, of course, had 18. The art teacher stuck his head in at one point this afternoon specifically to tell me that I had the biggest class of kids in school today. Oh...great... Then, he tried to make me feel better by saying, "Well, you KNOW why that is, right? They LOVE you!" Yeah, well, that doesn't make me feel better, pal!

There are 4 days and about 1 hour left with the kids. I hate to say it, but it can NOT go by fast enough. This year has been the WORST in all my years of teaching, and I just want it to end. I don't want to start complaining, so instead, I'm going to go watch Jimmy Kimmel's pre-game show, and enjoy the cool breeze blowing in my window right now.

***I just found this in todays' Chicago Sun Times. See, it's not just me.***

I just made a reference to you in my other blog. Check it out. It was so hot today, definitely felt like 100 degrees in some areas around here.

...today we traded you and it was probably 70 degrees...tomorrow is my LAST day of school! But Monday I will be assessing and cleaning...but then it is VACATION! I would say "summer vacation" but I can't be sure if the weather will actually be summer like!

I hope the weather stays cooler for you!

It would be nice if it could stay cool for you, at least until school is out. I would love some heat out here...we get excited when it gets over 60, this year!

Here is the difference between us: you nonchalantly mention that there is a waterfall in your basement and then you go to work.

If I even saw one puddle in my basement, I would be freaking out and getting on the phone immediately to get it taken care of NOW. And there would absolutely be no going to work for me.

Because, the thought of leaking water anywhere just scares the holy fuck out of me.

We had a water fall in our living room from the leaky brand new roof and we freaked. I wish I could be more like you.

As for the storm, it hit here as I was driving to prom tonight and it was awful. I couldn't see--cut off to sit on side of road for a while and then took the service road. There was a big accident and we got diverted and I got lost--drove 15 miles out of my way on dark streets. I was crying until I found a police station and got directions.

I feel awful about your bad year but know how you feel. I'm having one too, but at least I can get out. Hope things get better.

I really thought you were already done with school.
I laughed near the end of your post when you said you would finish up before you complained. :)
I hope the water did not do any damage...sounds pretty bad to me though.

I had to fly through Chicago Midway today and the girl, (behind the bar!!!), was distressed about the water that had been pouring into her basement.

I thought of you and realized how much I missed you :(

Enjoy your cool weather! I'm sorry you took offense with my fat comment. I get it. Golly, it was much easier to be a bitchy waiter when no one read the freaking' blog. Thanks for always being so cool.

Girl you know I love you but our taste in Weather COULD NOT BE MORE DIFFERENT. I just spent two days in Ft. Lauderdale and ate outside gladly in the 85 degrees. Tonight at home in MD I was cold at 75....
