Heart breaking. We've been trying to help a teen and services are just not there. The voters threw out a tax on soda and candy in Washington state that would have gone to fund children's services. Priorities are screwed up. Maddening.

It is time that society learned it was not the school's fault for every problem. I am not responsible for the fist 5 years of my student's lives...those first 5 years if not nurtured, a child cannot do well in school.

I live with a high school teacher who works in a school in one of the worst areas of the city. She tells me that every year, they get new teachers who are not equipped to deal with students like theirs. They usually put in a year or two and then move on. Bing constantly stresses that they NEED the more experienced teachers but they just plain refuse to work there.
