What is your favourite Valentine's Day candy?

Anything chocolate.  Well, I also really like conversation hearts.  Hell, pretty much ANY candy is A-OK in my book!

Today is Lincoln's Birthday.  Happy Birthday, Abe!  I actually almost forgot since I'm no longer at school.  Normally, it would be a big deal, because it would mean a day off. ;-)

Today is also my Aunt Marylou's birthday.  This would have been her 71st birthday.  It's hard to believe she's been gone for 2 1/2 years already.

Here's one of my favorite pictures from her wedding.  (To see more family pictures that I've posted in the past with my aunt, click here)
This is probably my favorite picture of my mom and her siblings.
Ok, I need to lighten things up around here, cuz the sadness is seeping in really quickly.

The other day, I showed you my breakfast.  Yesterday, I snapped photos of my lunch and dinner for you.  You're welcome!

Lunch was diced avocado and halved grape tomatoes, seasoned with a little salt and fresh cracked pepper.
It was so tasty, I had it again today for lunch.  And, yes, I had pears and goat cheese, drizzled with agave nectar, for breakfast.  I know, I know, I'm one of those people who can happily eat the same thing over and over.  I realize some of you would never do that, but I'm a creature of habit, and when I find something that works and that I like, I tend to stick to it.  (Um, HELLO!  Why do you think Magnum is still around 27 years later?!  tee hee!)

For dinner, I had a bunch of yummy stuff.  Like every night, I made a salad with kalamata olives, feta cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers.  For Stud and Magnum, I made chicken sausage, stuffed with smoked mozzarella and spinach.  I'm not a fan of sausage, so I made myself a "sandwich."  Like I mentioned the other day, I've been enjoying lettuce-wrapped "sandwiches" lately.  Last night, instead of rolling it, I just used two big leaves, much like 2 slices of bread, to make a sandwich.  I had Black Forest ham and baby Swiss in there.  I couldn't get the tomatoes to stay in there, so for every bite I took, I popped a tomato in my mouth. =)

The other day, I showed you my island, cover in produce.  I mentioned that I sometimes pick up Cuties at Aldi.  That day, I had bought a bag at Sam's Club, but my basket was still full of the ones I had bought at Aldi.
Well, about 2 days later, those were just about gone, and so I opened the bag I picked up at Sam's.  Now, the bag from Sam's is a bigger bag.  What I had never noticed before was that the Cuties are also bigger.  Look.
Weird, right?  I'm going to have to pay attention the next time I pick them up at both places, to see if this was just a one-time fluke, or if they're always like that.

Yes, I know, this is some riveting stuff right here.  Do you see what my life has been reduced to?  Comparing produce at different stores!!  With the exception of what happens over here, there's not much excitement around here right now.

Speaking of excitement, I supposed I'll go do my taxes.  Magnum has been on me for weeks to get them done, and I promised him it would get done TODAY.  You'd think I'd stop dragging my feet since Lord knows, we could use those refunds ASAP.

Ok, I'm off to crunch some numbers!!

5/7/11

Not much to say today. Partially because Bestest Friend's sister's funeral luncheon didn't end until after 10 pm. No, that's NOT a typo. PM. It was a long week, to say the least. Even though I woke up at my usual time this morning, after letting the dog out, going to the bathroom, washing my face & brushing my teeth, then letting the dog back in, I decided to lie down for another minute. I was thinking about all the things I have to do today, and about the surprise party I'll be attending tonight for one of my baby cousins. (side note - this is the 'baby' of my aunt who passed away 9 months ago. It's his 30th birthday, and his first birthday without his mom. I'm not sure what to expect tonight, especially since we ALL will be feeling her absence.)

Next thing I know, I hear my cell phone ringing. By the time I figured out it was my phone, and I sat up, that phone had stopped, and the house phone was ringing. It was CSJ, calling to say hi. When he realized he woke me up, he felt terrible. However, when I realized it was NOON, I felt terrible! What the hell? Noon?! Obviously, my body needed the sleep, as CSJ pointed out. Plus, as my lady friends will understand, I woke up at noon with my period (sorry, boys) which always brings on unbelievable fatigue.

I actually feel great at the moment. I feel refreshed, and I'm hoping I can hang on to that until tonight. The party doesn't start until 7, my cousin will arrive around 7:30, and after we finish up at the restaurant, we'll all be heading over to the bar to continue the celebration. And, knowing my family, they will mark the midnight hour, which means it will then be my birthday, so I know I'm in for a long night. Maybe I should go take a nap....

More photos

Here's one of the many photos I scanned of my aunt and uncle's wedding. That's my mom on the right, their other sister on the left. How cute are all of them? My mom was 16 in this picture, my aunt was 18, the bride was 20.

I have no idea when this picture was taken, but I just think my aunt looks really pretty here.
This was taken in the past two years.
This one was taken on the same night as the photo from the last post. This is my grandpa. He must have taken the other picture, since he wasn't in it. Wow, my grandpa has been gone for almost 26 years now. Man, I miss him. But, I am taking comfort in the fact that my aunt is now back with both of her parents, and they're probably whoopin' it up right now!
Not sure where or when this was taken, either, but it's a nice picture of the four siblings.

Beautiful Family Photo

I have been scanning photos for hours. I finally finished, and now I'm about to burn them all to CDs. I'm also going to attempt to make a powerpoint slideshow of the photos to show at the wake tonight.

Here's an AWESOME photo of my grandma and her children. I have no idea what year this is from, or where they were. It would seem like they're at a wedding, maybe? And, my mom says my sister was already born, so maybe early 70s.

My mother is stunningly beautiful, isn't she? She finally made it home from Italy yesterday afternoon. She was too exhausted to do much, but I'm afraid that when she woke up today, the reality of losing her sister must have set in. I'm almost a little afraid to see how the wake goes tonight.

Marylou, Roseanne (my mom), Eddie, Grandma and Lucy I have a feeling I'm going to be posting several more times today, in between burning CDs, making slideshows and putting together photo boards...

Why?

Some of you may remember this picture from when I posted it last November. It was taken at my uncle's surprise 60th birthday party. It's a picture of my mother and her siblings, youngest to oldest - my Uncle Ed, my mom, my Aunt Lucy, and my Aunt Marylou.
Yesterday morning, my Aunt Marylou's husband woke up to find her sitting up on the couch, no longer alive. The past 36 hours or so have been just surreal. I'm not ready to say much more, but I do plan to post some more pictures later and probably some memories. For now I'll just say, I'll miss you so much.
